Three Alarm Vacant Restaurant Fire In Mansfield
On Thursday night, February 15, 2007, Mansfield firefighters were dispatched to Route 140 and Norfolk Street for reported smoke coming from a building.Responding companies reported heavy smoke showing from a distance. On arrival, a working fire was transmitted and command reported fire throughout the one story "Longhorn Restaurant" under construction in the Home Depot Plaza.Due to lack of hydrants in the area, a second alarm was transmitted. Mansfield Tower 1 was set up on side one and began flowing water.Sharon Ladder on arrival set up on the side two-three corner as heavy fire broke through the roof.When heavy winds blew the fire towards their location setting off a brush fire to the rear of their apparatus, command transmitted a third alarm.Crews used multiple big lines and the Mansfield tower to bring the fire under control later on that evening. Mutual Aid from North Attleborough, Sharon, Easton and Norton responded to the fire.
