Two Alarm Fire Guts Woonsocket Dwelling
Around 04:00 On Thursday Morning Woonsocket Fire Control began receiving multiple calls reporting a house fire at 289 Mowry Street off Park Avenue. Engine One arrived first due minutes later and reported a "Code Red' with fire on the first floor of a occupied 2.5 story dwelling. Firefighters began to preform searches on floor one for a reported missing occupant as additional crews stretched hand lines in via side one. Interior crews made little headway and fire began to extend to the upper floors and thru the roof severely threatening the exposure buildings on sides two and four. The Incident commander requested an emergency evacuation of the building and lines were stretched into the special called tower two which began flowing in addition to engine one's deck gun. Crews used lines for exposure protection while others began to make progress with the exterior operation which lasted about an hour. The majority of fire was kept to the building of origin which was heavily damaged, the exposure four building sustained extensive damaged to the exterior due to the radiant heat. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation, All occupants made it out of the building without incident.
